Peller Faces Scrutiny After Carter Efe’s TikTok Ban

Nigerian content creator Peller has come under scrutiny after an old video of him appealing to fans to report fellow creator Carter Efe’s TikTok account resurfaced online, days after TikTok permanently banned Carter Efe’s main account for the second time in a year.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the clip began circulating on September 9, with social media users linking Peller’s earlier appeal to the subsequent removal of Carter Efe’s page.

Carter Efe, a streamer, comedian and musician, lost access to his official TikTok account, which had amassed over 5.6 million followers and 158 million likes. Screenshots of an enforcement notice shared online showed that TikTok cited repeated violations of its Community Guidelines as the reason for the ban.

In the resurfaced clip, Peller is seen kneeling while urging his audience to report Carter Efe’s page, accusing him of sabotaging other creators and suggesting a strategy to get the account taken down. However, there is no confirmed evidence linking Peller’s appeal directly to the ban, as TikTok’s notice cited policy violations as the official reason.

This marks the second time Carter Efe has lost a major TikTok account, having previously lost a 3.5 million-follower page in June 2025 following controversial remarks about Afrobeats star Wizkid.

The incident has reignited conversations around rivalry among Nigerian creators and the risks of relying solely on platforms with strict moderation policies.

CDA News Nigeria will continue monitoring reactions to this development.
