A man has been arrested by the police in Abuja after he allegedly assaulted a young woman for rejecting his romantic advances, following widespread public outrage over a viral video of the incident.

According to reports, police tracked the suspect to his location, where he allegedly attempted to evade arrest by hiding before he was eventually apprehended. Videos circulating online showed the man apologising after he was found, but officers proceeded to take him into custody for further investigation.
Reacting to the arrest, the woman emphasized the importance of respecting personal boundaries, stating that “No means No,” and urged men to respect women’s decisions and consent.
