The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspects and recovered 3,427 suspected illicit drugs during a security operation in Jigawa State aimed at tackling drug-related crimes and other criminal activities.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the operation formed part of the police command’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, substance abuse, and criminality across the state.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during coordinated raids carried out in identified locations, while the recovered drugs are believed to have been intended for illegal distribution.
The command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the illicit substances and identify other individuals connected to the alleged drug network.
Police authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations to rid Jigawa State of criminal elements and warned those involved in drug trafficking to abandon the illegal trade or face the full weight of the law.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations, while the recovered drugs will serve as exhibits during court proceedings.
