President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, the 92-year-old cleric from Plateau State renowned for his bravery during the 2018 ethno-religious crisis.
Imam Abubakar risked his life to hide and protect over 200 Christians from attackers in his community, an act that earned him national and international recognition as a symbol of interfaith courage and coexistence.
In a tribute, President Tinubu hailed the late Imam as a “beacon of unity and compassion,” whose legacy reinforces the values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect in Nigeria.
The President extended condolences to the family, the Muslim community in Plateau, and all Nigerians inspired by his selfless example.
