Former member of the House of Representatives, Sam Onuigbo, has been formally inaugurated as the President of GLOBE Legislators during a ceremony held at the UK Parliament in London.
Speaking after his inauguration, Onuigbo described the event as a significant milestone and an opportunity to reflect on GLOBE Legislators’ achievements over the past 35 years.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from several global leaders and stakeholders, including former United States Vice President Al Gore, Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and representatives of the United Nations and international climate organizations.
Onuigbo emphasized the need for sustained commitment to climate action, sustainable development, and international parliamentary cooperation, assuring members that the organization would continue to strengthen its global impact.
He also expressed appreciation to his host, Rt. Hon. Graham Stuart MP, former UK Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero, as well as his wife, family, friends, colleagues, parliamentarians, and development partners, who attended the event.
The new GLOBE Legislators President pledged to build on the organization’s legacy and ensure its vision continues to inspire lawmakers worldwide.
