ABUJA – A 2018 meeting between US President Donald Trump and the late Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was reportedly dominated by Trump’s angry questioning over the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
According to a recent report, as President Buhari entered the meeting at the White House, Trump pointedly asked, “Why are you killing Christians in Nigeria?” He described the situation as a “horrible” problem that he would not allow to continue.
Trump’s stern warning from 2018 mirrors his recent threats of military action against Nigeria over the same issue. The report states that the Nigerian delegation was shocked by the directness of the confrontation, which highlighted the long-standing US concern about religious violence in the country.
