APC, APGA Clash Over Alleged Election Disruption in Anambra Community

NRI – Tensions flared during the Anambra governorship election as the APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, accused the ruling APGA party of hiring thugs to disrupt voting in the Nri community.

Ekwunife claimed the “unprovoked tension” at three polling units in Anaocha Local Government Area was a deliberate attempt to interfere with the process at her voting centre. She commended local youths and security forces for restoring calm and allowing voting to resume.

The APC candidate also alleged widespread vote-buying across several polling units, calling it an “eyesore” that prevents competent leaders from emerging. However, the APGA Chairman in Anaocha LGA, Chief Anthony Ugorji, denied the allegations, stating his party did not send anyone to cause disruption, though he confirmed the incident had occurred.
