A Rivers State High Court has restrained the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, from receiving any impeachment notice from the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Clerk, and 29 assembly members.
The order follows an ex-parte application filed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, seeking to halt the impeachment process initiated against him and his deputy.
The court’s decision temporarily suspends the legislative move to probe the governor over allegations of gross misconduct, marking a significant legal twist in the ongoing political battle in Rivers State.
Further hearing on the matter is expected to be scheduled by the court.
