Sara-Igbe to Fubara: Dissolve Rivers Assembly Now

Elder Statesman Urges Fubara to Dissolve Rivers Assembly

Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to dissolve the State House of Assembly and seek judicial clarity over the ongoing political crisis.

In an interview on SYMFONI TV, Sara-Igbe cited Section 105 of the Constitution, which grants the governor the power to dissolve the assembly. He argued that if lawmakers can threaten impeachment, the governor should exercise his constitutional authority and let the courts decide.

Sara-Igbe noted that such a legal battle could take one to two years, potentially reaching the Supreme Court, during which the governor’s position would remain intact.

He criticized Fubara for being too conciliatory in the face of repeated impeachment threats, warning that continuous appeasement undermines the governor’s authority and effective governance.
