Security Scare as 119 AK-47 Ammunition Discovered Near Gombe Graveyard

Security operatives have recovered 119 rounds of AK-47 ammunition near a graveyard in Gombe State, in a chilling discovery that has heightened security concerns in the North-East region of Nigeria.

The ammunition, found in suspicious circumstances close to the cemetery, has triggered an immediate security response, with operatives launching investigations to trace the origin of the weapons and identify those responsible for concealing them at the location.

Security sources confirmed the recovery, describing the find as significant and potentially indicative of a planned criminal or terrorist operation in the state. The graveyard location has raised particular concern among analysts, who note that such isolated sites are increasingly being used as caches for arms and ammunition by criminal elements.

The discovery comes against the backdrop of rising insecurity across Nigeria’s North-East, a region that has long grappled with the threat of insurgency, banditry, and armed criminality.

Authorities have since cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale investigation to determine whether the ammunition is linked to any known criminal network, insurgent group, or planned attack in the state.

The Gombe State Government and relevant security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the development as at the time of filing this report.
Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest security agency.
