Deputy Speaker Kalu Hosts APC Candidates and Stakeholders From Abia State at Bende Country Home

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu (CFR, PhD), has hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates and key political stakeholders from Abia State at his country home in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, in what observers are describing as a significant post-primary consolidation meeting.

The high-profile gathering brought together some of the most prominent political figures emerging from Abia State’s APC primaries, signalling a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event was Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma, the APC Abia Central Senatorial candidate, alongside House of Representatives and House of Assembly members-elect from across the state.

Also in attendance was former Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, who recently emerged as the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency Representative-elect, reinforcing his political comeback as a major force in Abia politics.

Ugwumba Chika Ishionwu, the APC candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, was equally present at the gathering, reflecting the broad representation of the party’s emerging political class at the event.

The meeting at Deputy Speaker Kalu’s country home is widely seen as a strategic move to strengthen party cohesion, align campaign strategies, and consolidate the APC’s political structure in Abia State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Deputy Speaker Kalu, a native of Bende LGA, continues to assert his influence as the dominant political figure shaping APC fortunes in Abia State.
