South Sudan, Libya, Guyana Top 2025 Global Growth Forecast

WASHINGTON – South Sudan is projected to be the world’s fastest-growing economy in 2025, with a staggering 24.3% real GDP growth, according to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) latest World Economic Outlook.

The growth is attributed to improved oil output and easing political instability. Libya follows in second place with a 15.6% expansion, driven by sustained recovery in its oil sector, while Guyana’s oil-fueled boom places it third with 10.3% growth.

The report highlights a significant trend, with several African nations featuring prominently in the top ten. Beyond the leaders, Guinea (7.2%), Ethiopia (7.2%), and Rwanda (7.1%) are expected to post strong growth, fueled by infrastructure investment and economic reforms.

The IMF notes a continued shift in global growth momentum toward resource-rich and reform-oriented frontier markets.
