Sylva’s Aide Denies Coup Involvement, Confirms Abuja Home Raid

ABUJA – An aide to former Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva has firmly denied rumors linking his principal to an alleged coup plot, confirming however that security operatives raided Sylva’s Abuja residence.

Chief Julius Bokoru, Sylva’s Special Assistant on Media, described the allegations as “false and politically motivated,” stating they were manufactured by opponents ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The former Bayelsa governor remains a committed democrat and staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu,” Bokoru emphasized.

He confirmed that the Defence Headquarters operatives conducted a raid on Sylva’s home, causing “considerable damage” to the property. According to Bokoru, no reason was provided for the operation, which occurred while Sylva and his wife were abroad for medical checks and a professional conference.
