President Bola Tinubu has intervened to halt the impeachment moves against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and restore political peace in the state.
According to sources, the President ordered FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his camp to suspend any impeachment action and instructed Governor Fubara to recognise Wike as the “undisputed political leader” of Rivers State.
Tinubu reportedly warned that continued hostilities would undermine governance and stability in the oil-rich state, which is critical to his 2027 re-election calculations.
The President also directed that APC should recognise Wike’s candidates in the upcoming state assembly by-elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.
This is the second major intervention by Tinubu since the feud between Fubara and his predecessor escalated in late 2023.
