Former Super Eagles Captain Recites Shahadah in Doha
Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has reportedly embraced Islam after reciting the Shahadah in Doha, Qatar.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Troost-Ekong, 33, currently plays for Qatar Stars League club Al-Ahli, which he joined in January 2026 after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Kholood.
The defender enjoyed a distinguished international career with Nigeria, earning 83 caps and scoring eight goals between 2015 and 2025. He represented the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments .
He was a key member of Nigeria’s team that reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire and was named Player of the Tournament after scoring three goals during the competition. Troost-Ekong announced his retirement from international football in 2025.
