Trump Reveals When to End US-Iran War, But Tehran Vows to Decide

WASHINGTON DC — United States President Donald Trump has signaled that the ongoing conflict with Iran will end “very soon,” describing the war as “very complete” and claiming Tehran’s military capabilities have been devastated.

Speaking to CBS News on Monday, Trump said the war had progressed much faster than the initial four-to-five week timeline projected by the White House. “They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place,” Trump asserted.

When pressed on the specific timing of the operation’s conclusion, Trump told reporters at his Florida golf resort, “Not this week,” but added, “Very soon”.

The president emphasized that any decision to end the war would be made “mutually” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, though he insisted he would keep the ultimate prerogative.

However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) swiftly rejected Trump’s claims. In a statement issued through state media, an IRGC spokesperson declared: “It is we who will determine the end of the war. The equations and future status of the region are now in the hands of our armed forces; American forces will not end the war”.

The IRGC also issued a stark warning, threatening to block oil exports from the region if US and Israeli attacks continue, vowing not to allow “even a single liter of oil to be transported out of the Middle East”.

Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, warning Iran that any attempt to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would be met with devastating force. “If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America twenty times harder than they have been hit thus far,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi ruled out any resumption of negotiations with Washington. “After three rounds of talks, the US negotiation team themselves said we had made significant progress, yet they decided to attack us. Therefore, there will be no further dialogue with the US on our agenda,” he stated.

Following Trump’s remarks hinting at an early conclusion, international oil prices dropped significantly, with both Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate falling below the US$90 per barrel level.
