Former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has commended voters for their peaceful conduct during Saturday’s election, describing the exercise as a testament to the maturity of the Nigerian electorate.
Ugwuanyi, who cast his vote at his polling unit in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area, praised the orderly manner in which voters conducted themselves throughout the process.
“I am impressed by the peaceful conduct of our people. This is what democracy should look like—calm, orderly, and inclusive,” Ugwuanyi stated.
The former governor also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their professionalism in ensuring a hitch-free exercise. He urged Nigerians to continue embracing peaceful participation in the electoral process.
Political observers noted that Ugwuanyi’s presence at the polls drew significant attention, given his influence in Enugu State politics. The election has seen moderate turnout across the state’s constituencies.
Community leaders have called for sustained peace as vote counting begins, warning against any actions capable of undermining the credibility of the results.
