A civil society group, Cognitive Justice, has challenged Hon. Obi Aguocha, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, to publish verifiable evidence of the 22,000 jobs he claimed to have saved across Nigeria.
In a press statement issued in Umuahia, the group’s spokesman, Emeka Opara, described the claim as “misleading and unsubstantiated tissue of lies,” accusing Aguocha of stimulating public sentiment to mask his “visibly ineffective and unproductive representation.”
The group demanded that Aguocha publish the names, pictures, job descriptions, and phone numbers of the 22,000 Nigerian citizens with university certificates from Benin Republic institutions who he alleged were at risk of losing their jobs in the civil service.
Cognitive Justice also urged the lawmaker to release his scorecard, including constituency projects, appropriations, oversight functions, and bills passed into law over his three years in the House of Representatives.
“As a civil society organisation, our core responsibility is to seek clarity, justice, accountability and transparency from our elected leaders,” Opara stated.
The challenge adds to growing pressure on Aguocha to justify his legislative performance as the 2027 general elections approach.
