VDM Alleges Bayelsa Governor’s Wife Ordered Activist’s Remand

YENAGOA, NIGERIA – Social activist Livinus Nwosu has been remanded in prison in Bayelsa State following his arrest and arraignment over a social media post criticizing the wife of the state governor, Dr. Gloria Diri.

The development was disclosed by activist Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who revealed that Nwosu was arrested shortly after sharing a post expressing disappointment with the governor’s wife regarding a case involving a young girl who was assaulted in August 2025.

According to reports, Nwosu had intervened in the case of a victim who was assaulted by three girls. Two of the alleged assailants were arrested, with one reportedly being the daughter of a prominent figure in the state. The governor’s wife allegedly took interest in the case and reportedly promised to support the victim’s education.

However, after the victim’s family reportedly received a small sum and the case suffered repeated adjournments, Nwosu took to social media to express his frustration. His post read in part: “I regret trusting you in this Nancy case. I regret believing that you would get justice for this girl…”

Shortly after the post, Nwosu was arrested, arraigned in court, and remanded in prison.

The Bayelsa State Government and the Governor’s Office have yet to issue an official response to the allegations. CDA News Nigeria is monitoring the situation.
