RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr has downplayed expectations that the five-time champions will enter the 2026 FIFA World Cup as favourites, insisting that the team must remain focused and humble ahead of the global tournament.
Speaking during a media interaction in Rio de Janeiro, the Real Madrid star acknowledged Brazil’s rich football history but cautioned against overconfidence, pointing to the competitive strength of other national teams.
“We respect the history of our national team, but we cannot say we are favourites. There are many strong teams, and we must work hard to earn our place,” Vinicius said.
