“We Will Not Dance With Criminals,” Says Army Commander in Northwest

The Nigerian Army has vowed to intensify its offensive against bandits in the Northwest, with the Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA ruling out any form of negotiation.

Major General Idris Warrah made the declaration while addressing troops at the 8 Division Headquarters in Sokoto on Wednesday. He stated that the military’s mission is to apply decisive force to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace to the region.

“We are not here to negotiate, dance or celebrate with bandits,” General Warrah said emphatically. “We are here to apply strength, capacity and decisive action. The mission is clear — defeat the enemy and restore peace to our people.”

He charged the soldiers to remain operationally aggressive and mentally prepared for sustained engagements, emphasizing that discipline and strict adherence to orders are critical to the operation’s success.

The commander, accompanied by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, also inspected facilities at the 248 Recce Battalion in Illela. He assured troops of the army’s commitment to their welfare and proper care for the wounded.

“The foundation of the Nigerian Army is built on discipline and resilience,” Warrah stated. “Now is the time to stand tall. Now is the time to end this menace once and for all.”
