Mr. Emmanuel Odiniya, father of BBNaija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has explained why he assaulted his daughter in their Abuja residence.
In a viral audio recording, Odiniya said the incident was not driven by hatred but by frustration over what he called her changed behavior after winning the show . He claimed he contributed “well over 75%” to her victory using political connections .
According to Odiniya, his daughter became disrespectful after rising to fame. “She stopped listening to me. I would book appointments five to six times weekly, and she wouldn’t give me audience,” he alleged .
He also accused her of financial neglect: “I asked her to lend me money for a medical trip to Dubai. She said she had none, but days later, I saw her spraying bundles of cash at a colleague’s wedding” .
The father further alleged that Ilebaye physically attacked him first. “She hit me with a sea hanger, causing bleeding, pushed me, and broke an electric lantern on my head. I acted out of provocation to correct her” .
He also accused her of influencing her younger brother with drugs and advising him to divorce her mother .
Despite the incident, Odiniya said, “I still love my daughter deeply. I ask for prayers. Police have intervened and settled the matter” .
The FCT Police Command confirmed all parties sustained injuries and are receiving treatment .
