In a positive development, 38 worshippers who were kidnapped in Kwara State have been safely rescued and reunited with their families.
The victims, abducted during a religious gathering in Eruku, were received back in their hometown on Tuesday evening to emotional celebrations. The rescue operation was the result of a coordinated effort involving President Bola Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Following a formal handover ceremony in Ilorin, the Ekiti Local Government Chairman commended the swift government response and the collaboration among security agencies. All rescued individuals received medical care and were stabilized before returning home.
The Owa of Eruku expressed profound relief and gratitude, highlighting the operation as an example of effective coordinated action to address insecurity.
