Lagos Announces Traffic Diversion as Lekki-Epe Expressway Rehabilitation Begins Jan 25

The Lagos State Government has announced that rehabilitation works on Sections 2 and 3 of the Lekki-Epe Expressway will commence on January 25, 2026, and last for 64 days.

The project, covering from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge in Ajah, will be executed in phases, with both carriageways undergoing repairs.

Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi stated that a detailed traffic management plan has been finalized, including dynamic lane-sharing and alternative routes to minimize disruption.

During morning peak hours (4 a.m.–12 p.m.), two lanes will be allocated to Lagos-bound traffic and one to Epe-bound; this will reverse during evening peaks.

Motorists are advised to use the Coastal Road from Ogombo via Abraham Adesanya as an alternative route.

The rehabilitation was initially scheduled for December 2025 but was postponed due to public concerns over traffic congestion during the festive period.
