Nigerian Army troops have rescued 26 kidnapped victims and foiled a terrorist attack on a correctional facility in a series of successful operations across the Northwest and North-Central regions.
According to a military source, the operations were carried out within the last 24 hours. In Kaduna State, troops on a fighting patrol in Kajuru Local Government Area rescued seven abducted persons after engaging kidnappers, neutralizing one terrorist and recovering three stolen motorcycles.
In Katsina State, a 15-year-old girl abducted from Gidan Bajini village was rescued unhurt around Pauwa Hill in Kankara LGA. Simultaneously, troops in Sokoto State rescued 12 hunters and civilians during a patrol in Tangaza LGA.
In a critical intervention, troops foiled an attempted terrorist attack on the Kangiwa Correctional Centre in Arewa LGA, Sokoto State. The attackers fled upon sighting troops, leaving behind assorted rifles and ammunition. A patrol vehicle and motorcycle within the facility were set ablaze during the incident.
Military authorities stated that sustained kinetic and non-kinetic operations across these regions continue to degrade criminal networks and strengthen public confidence.
