Otti’s Own Words Confirm Tinubu Funded Abia Federal Roads — Kalu’s Claims Stand

A review of public records has confirmed that Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, on November 1, 2025, publicly acknowledged that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved and funded key federal roads in the state, validating recent remarks by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu .

In a post on his official Facebook page following a joint inspection tour with the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, Governor Otti openly acknowledged what he described as a “collaborative synergy with the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu” .

He further stated clearly that this partnership “has already yielded approvals for key Federal roads in Abia State,” listing the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road, Owerrinta–Umuikaa dualization, Onuimo Tower Road dualization, Ohafia–Arochukwu Road, and the recently completed Omenuko Bridge .

Federal Roads, Federal Responsibility

These roads fall under the authority of the Federal Ministry of Works. Their approvals, supervision, and execution are federal responsibilities . Therefore, when Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu stated at the APC State Congress in Umuahia that these projects were delivered under President Tinubu’s administration, he was not fabricating facts. He was reinforcing what the Governor himself publicly confirmed: that the Federal Government played a central role in making these projects possible .

Political observers note that one cannot celebrate federal approvals, thank the Minister of Works, praise presidential collaboration, and then turn around to deny federal involvement when it becomes politically inconvenient .

The Facts Stand

The facts are straightforward: the roads are federal; the approvals came through the Federal Government; the funding framework is federal; and the supervision is federal .

Political narratives may vary, but documented public statements do not lie. Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu’s remarks stand firmly on the Governor’s own words .
