Kebbi PDP Secretary Resigns from Party

BIRNIN KEBBI, NIGERIA – The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, has resigned from the party, citing personal reasons.

Bawa announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the party’s ward chairman in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area. He did not disclose his next political destination.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to resign my membership from the PDP effective immediately,” the letter read.

His resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments in Kebbi State, where the PDP has been struggling to maintain cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections. The party has faced internal challenges, including defections and leadership disputes in recent months.

The Kebbi State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan, confirmed the resignation but declined further comments, stating that the party remains focused on its rebuilding efforts.

Political observers suggest Bawa may be considering a move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in the state, though he has not confirmed this.

The PDP leadership in Kebbi has yet to announce a replacement for the vacant secretary position.
