Courtroom Showdown: Angry Youths Block SSS Operatives From Whisking Away ‘Justice Crack’ in Abuja

Dramatic and tense scenes unfolded at an Abuja court on Monday as a crowd of angry youths physically confronted operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS/SSS), blocking their attempt to whisk away a popular activist identified as ‘Justice Crack’ following his court appearance.

Eyewitnesses described a charged and volatile atmosphere outside the courthouse as the youths, who had gathered in solidarity with Justice Crack, formed a human barrier against the security operatives, chanting and demanding that he be released in accordance with the court’s proceedings rather than taken into extrajudicial custody.

The confrontation raised immediate concerns about the pattern of secret security agencies re-arresting individuals immediately after court appearances — a practice that has drawn repeated condemnation from lawyers, human rights groups, and civil society organisations across Nigeria.

Legal observers present at the scene argued that any attempt by the SSS to detain Justice Crack outside the court’s directives would amount to a flagrant contempt of court and a gross violation of his fundamental human rights.

The incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage and renewed calls for accountability and respect for the rule of law by Nigeria’s security apparatus.

As of press time, the situation remained tense with further developments expected.
