INEC Trains 22 Political Party Leaders on New 2026 Audit and Reporting Systems

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has convened a strategic training session for the National Chairmen of Nigeria’s 22 registered political parties.

Held under the theme “The Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2026,” the workshop focused on the newly launched Political Party Finance Reporting and Audit Systems (PFRAS).This initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the Nigerian electoral space.

By introducing PFRAS, INEC seeks to digitize and streamline how parties document their finances and submit to mandatory audits.Addressing the party leaders, INEC officials emphasized that strict adherence to the 2026 guidelines is non-negotiable for maintaining valid registration.

The training provided a hands-on walkthrough of the digital reporting tools designed to eliminate manual errors and ensure real-time financial tracking.

As Nigeria approaches upcoming electoral cycles, this move is seen as a critical step in curbing illicit funding and ensuring a level playing field for all contestants.

The 22 party chairmen expressed their commitment to integrating these new systems into their administrative frameworks.
