KUWAIT CITY – An Iranian drone and missile attack on Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1 has killed one person and injured 63 others, Kuwaiti officials confirmed Wednesday .
The deceased was identified as an Indian national, according to an airport source . The wounded, including civilians, airport employees, and travelers, suffered fractures, head wounds, brain hemorrhages, amputations, and blast injuries .
Kuwait’s Defense Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi described the attack as “criminal Iranian aggression” that caused significant material damage .
The Iran attack on Kuwait airport forced authorities to suspend all flights and activate emergency plans, with 25 ambulances dispatched to the scene . Operations later resumed through Terminal 4 following technical inspections .
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility, stating it targeted the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and U.S. bases in Kuwait in retaliation for American strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island . The U.S. Central Command said it intercepted multiple Iranian missiles and conducted self-defense strikes .
The attack marks a severe test of the fragile April 8 ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran .
