The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has issued a stern warning to officers against professional misconduct, vowing to deal decisively with any personnel found guilty of extortion, brutality, or corruption.
Speaking on Tuesday during the launch of the FCT Police Command’s new crime response unit in Abuja, Adeoye declared that the era of indiscipline in the force would no longer be tolerated.
“Any officer caught demanding bribes, abusing suspects, or aiding criminals will face dismissal and prosecution. There will be no sacred cows,” he said.
The Commissioner also unveiled the FCT Rapid Crime Response Squad (RCRS), a specialized unit equipped with surveillance drones, motorcycle patrol teams, and real-time communication gadgets to respond to distress calls within minutes.
The unit will focus on flashpoints such as Kubwa, Lugbe, Gwagwalada, and the Abuja-Kaduna highway, where kidnappings and robberies have been on the rise.
Residents have welcomed the development, urging the CP to ensure the unit is not compromised. Adeoye assured that officers of the unit would undergo regular psychological and integrity tests.
