Abuja, Nigeria — Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have reportedly questioned the embattled Director-General linked to the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) while in police detention.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the interrogation forms part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency, which has sparked public concern and prompted multiple probes by anti-corruption agencies and the National Assembly.
The PFIPC controversy emerged following allegations surrounding the establishment and operations of the agency, with questions raised over its legal status, financial activities and the roles played by key officials. The matter has since attracted investigations by the ICPC, the Nigeria Police Force and legislative committees.
“The ICPC team questioned the embattled Director-General inside police detention as part of its ongoing investigation into the fake agency scandal,” a source familiar with the investigation said.
The outcome of the interrogation is expected to guide the next phase of the investigation. Authorities are expected to determine whether criminal charges will be filed based on the evidence gathered. Meanwhile, the National Assembly’s probe into the PFIPC controversy is also ongoing.
The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has convicted the suspect of any offence at the time of filing this report.
