The House of Representatives has called for the immediate remittance of over N30 billion recovered from the presidential inquiry into the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) to the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
The call followed a motion of urgent national importance moved by Rep. Saidu Abdullahi on Tuesday. The lawmaker warned that the delay in disbursing the recovered funds is deepening poverty by disrupting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on social protection.
Abdullahi expressed concern that the funds, recovered after NSIPA’s suspension in January 2024 for a financial probe, had not been remitted to the agency’s designated TSA. He stated this has left millions of beneficiaries without support, weakened small businesses, and eroded public trust.
The motion was referred to relevant House committees for further legislative action.
