Dangote Group Alleges Corruption at Oil Regulator, Demands Federal Investigation

The Dangote Group has leveled serious allegations of corruption and deliberate obstruction against the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), calling for an immediate federal investigation.

In a formal petition, the conglomerate accused officials of the regulatory agency of engaging in practices that have hindered the operational efficiency and market access of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The allegations include claims of “sleaze” and demands for bribes to facilitate necessary approvals and product certifications.

The company’s petition urges the Presidency and relevant anti-corruption bodies to probe the NMDPRA’s conduct, alleging that these actions are sabotaging a national strategic asset and inflating fuel prices. The regulator has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
