UMUAHIA – The Abia State Police Command has successfully dismantled a child trafficking network, leading to the rescue of multiple children and their subsequent reunion with their families.
In a significant operation, police arrested two suspects, Chinasa Ukachukwu, 30, and Adaoma Sunday, 30, for their alleged involvement in the trafficking of three children.
The case unfolded when Ukachukwu, a widow, left home with her four children for a purported child dedication in Aba but returned days later with only one child, failing to account for the other three.
Acting on intelligence, police tracked and arrested her alleged accomplice, Adaoma Sunday, leading to the recovery of the three missing children from locations in Aba, Lagos, and Anambra. All children have since been safely returned to their families.
In a related development, following a previous police announcement about the rescue of 18 infants and children, two parents from Lagos have successfully identified and reclaimed their children with valid proof.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the officers involved and urged the public to remain vigilant, advising residents to report any suspicious activity to the police.
The suspects have been charged to court.
