Abia State Commissions New Primary Health Centre in Azuiyi Oloko

The Abia State Ministry of Health has officially handed over a newly constructed and fully equipped Primary Health Centre to the Azuiyi Oloko Community in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

The handover ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, was performed by the Commissioner for Health, represented by Dr. Okorie Onukah. This facility is part of the state government’s initiative to build, renovate, or retrofit 250 primary health centres across Abia State.

Unlike some upgraded facilities, the Azuiyi Oloko centre was constructed from scratch. It is equipped with modern amenities, including male and female wards, a labour room, a pharmacy, and a laboratory.

The centre has been stocked with state-of-the-art medical equipment, such as a digital baby warmer, an incubator, an electrophoresis machine for genotype testing, oxygen cylinders, and a giant vaccine freezer. A functional borehole and a 4.8 kva standby generator were also provided to ensure uninterrupted services.

During the ceremony, a team of health personnel conducted instant medical checks and administered treatments to community members. In a symbolic moment, the daughter of the community’s Woman Leader gave birth to a baby girl at the newly opened facility.

Community representatives pledged their full support and votes for Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 elections, thanking the government for the developmental project.
