Akpabio Pushes Death Penalty for Kidnappers, Pledges “Bloc Votes” for Tinubu in 2027

ABUJA — Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared strong support for the death penalty for kidnappers and hailed President Bola Tinubu’s recent successes in rescuing abducted children, while projecting overwhelming “bloc votes” for the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the APC National Caucus meeting on Thursday, Akpabio commended Tinubu’s “decisive leadership” on security and regional stability, including Nigeria’s diplomatic intervention in Benin Republic.

On Kidnapping & Capital Punishment:
Akpabio highlighted that the Senate has already passed a bill reclassifying kidnapping as a terrorism offence, punishable by death upon presidential assent.

“Kidnappers will face the death sentence once the President assents to the bill,” he stated, warning that failure to enforce capital punishment could lead to more jailbreaks and killings.

Political Alignment for 2027:
The Senate President welcomed recently defected governors into the APC and urged unity across states, especially in the South-South region. He expressed confidence that the party’s growing strength would translate into solid electoral support nationwide.

“At the end, this should result in bloc votes and victory for the APC come 2027,” Akpabio asserted.

He also praised APC National Chairman Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda for consolidating the party’s gains and expanding its national appeal.
