Akpabio Tells Losing Aspirants: Accept Defeat or Seek Internal Reconciliation

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has advised aspirants who lost at the recent National Assembly primary elections to go back and “do their homework well” instead of crying foul.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday in Abuja, Akpabio dismissed allegations of manipulation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, insisting that the process was free, fair, and transparent.

“If you lost, it simply means you did not do your homework well enough. Go back to your constituencies, work harder, and try again next time. There is no room for excuses,” Akpabio said.

His comments come amid growing grievances from some APC aspirants who have rejected primary results in several states, citing name substitutions, imposition of candidates, and alleged manipulation by party officials.

Akpabio, who secured the APC ticket for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, advised aggrieved party members to seek internal dispute resolution mechanisms rather than rushing to the media or courts.

The APC national leadership has yet to issue an official statement on the various primary disputes, but party sources say a reconciliation committee may be set up soon.
