…Caleb Flynn Convicted of Shooting Wife Twice in Head, Staging Home Invasion to Pursue Affair

A former Ohio music pastor who once auditioned for American Idol has been found guilty of murdering his wife, in a case that drew national attention after prosecutors revealed he killed her to pursue an affair with a young church intern.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Caleb Flynn, 40, was convicted on Tuesday by a Miami County jury of aggravated murder, murder, felony murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. Jurors deliberated for fewer than three hours before returning guilty verdicts on all nine counts.

Flynn had claimed an intruder shot his wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, a schoolteacher and volleyball coach, at their home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16, 2026. Police arrested him three days later. Ashley was found with two gunshot wounds to the head. The couple’s two daughters were in the home when police arrived.

Prosecutors argued the home invasion was fabricated, saying Flynn altered the crime scene to back up his narrative. While he claimed to be asleep during the murder, his electronic devices showed movement, according to evidence presented at trial. Text messages revealed Flynn told his mistress he hated his wife and wanted her dead.

Flynn appeared briefly on Season 12 of American Idol in 2013, where he told viewers he loved his wife, who had encouraged him to audition. He faces up to life in prison without parole when sentenced on Monday.
