ABUJA – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has issued a stern directive to state coordinators of the party’s ongoing nationwide electronic membership registration, warning them to ensure all members are registered or face removal.
Speaking during a meeting with coordinators at the party’s national secretariat on Tuesday, Yilwatda stated that the exercise is not ceremonial but a critical responsibility to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of future elections.
“If any coordinator does not get all members registered in his or her state, we will drop you and appoint another person,” he declared.
The National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, announced that the party has registered over two million digitally verified members within the first week of the exercise, which began on January 6 and is scheduled to end on January 30.
Yilwatda revealed that Delta State currently leads in registration numbers, followed by Lagos, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Plateau states.
He emphasized that no member should be excluded, warning against any attempt by state chairmen, coordinators, or even governors to block registration. He also stated that any State Executive Committee member who fails to register before the deadline will be removed from office.
The APC chairman linked the e-registration drive to President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, stressing that the party needs accurate, verifiable data to support governance and election planning.
Basiru projected that membership could rise to 8–9 million by next week’s review if the current momentum is sustained across all states.
