APC Imposes Two-Week Deadline for Presidential, Gov, NASS Forms, Pegs Presidential Form at N100m

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has imposed a tight two-week window for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms to aspirants seeking its tickets for the 2027 general elections, setting the presidential nomination form at N100 million.

According to the party’s timetable, signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, and announced by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while the deadline for the submission of completed forms is May 4, 2026.

The party fixed the presidential primary election for May 15 and 16, 2026, followed by the House of Representatives primary on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and the governorship primary on May 23, 2026.

Cost of Nomination Forms

A breakdown of the fees shows that presidential aspirants will pay a total of N100 million (N30 million for expression of interest and N70 million for nomination). Governorship aspirants are to pay N50 million (N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination). Senate aspirants will pay N20 million, House of Representatives aspirants N10 million, and State House of Assembly aspirants N6 million.

The party also announced concessions for female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities, who are required to pay only the expression of interest fee and 50 percent of the nomination fee for their respective positions.

Screening and Appeals

Screening of aspirants for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions is scheduled for May 6 to May 8, 2026, while presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9, 2026. Appeals arising from the primaries will be heard shortly after each exercise, with the governorship appeal scheduled for May 25, 2026.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, January 16, 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for Saturday, February 6, 2027. Campaigns for the presidential election will begin on August 19, 2026.

The APC, in a statement, reassured members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election process.
