President Bola Tinubu and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Saturday kick off the President’s re-election campaign in Kaduna State, intensifying efforts to secure support across the North.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the APC is targeting 40 million votes through grassroots engagement, particularly among women. The region is crucial, accounting for 56.01 million of Nigeria’s 103.43 million registered voters.
The campaign flag-off is expected to host 31 state governors and other party chieftains. APC leaders, including Salihu Mustapha and Farouk Aliyu, expressed confidence in a growing consensus among northern stakeholders to secure Tinubu’s victory, especially given his loss in Kaduna during the 2023 presidential poll.
However, the opposition has challenged the APC’s optimism. The camp of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar insists that economic hardship, rising living costs, and persistent insecurity will drive Nigerians across regional and religious divides to vote out the ruling party in 2027.
