The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Sola Adigun, has called for greater collaboration among teachers, parents and government towards the development of students and the education sector.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Adigun spoke in Ado Ekiti on Thursday during an interactive multicast programme anchored by the Ekiti State Bureau of Community Communications.
He urged teachers across the country to remain dedicated to their duties and strive to become impactful educators capable of positively shaping the lives of their students, describing teachers as guardians and mentors who partner with government and parents to nurture students during school hours.
Adigun also appealed to parents to fulfil their responsibilities by providing proper care, guidance and support for their children at home, stressing that education cannot thrive on the efforts of teachers alone.
He further advised students to remain focused on their studies, work hard to achieve their goals, and steer clear of cultism and other social vices that could derail their academic pursuits.
According to him, the shared responsibility of raising children among teachers, parents and government remains essential to addressing the numerous challenges confronting the education sector in Nigeria.
