MARU, Zamfara State — Repeated bandit attacks sack Zamfara communities, forcing residents of Tashar Mayanchi and more than 10 neighbouring villages in Maru Local Government Area to flee their homes after four consecutive days of violence.
CDA News Nigeria gathered from reports shared by security analyst Bakatsine on X that the attacks have left many communities largely deserted, while more than 40 residents are reportedly still being held captive by the armed bandits.
According to the report, the continued displacement has heightened fears that the criminals could expand their operations towards the Zamfara–Sokoto highway, further isolating affected communities and disrupting movement in the area.
“Repeated bandit attacks forced residents to flee Tashar Mayanchi and more than 10 surrounding communities in Maru LGA of Zamfara State, leaving once-thriving villages largely deserted. Local sources say more than 40 people remain in captivity after four consecutive days of attacks,” Bakatsine wrote.
