A senior police officer in Bauchi State has personally donated ₦310,000 to resolve a tense standoff that led to the blockage of the busy Bauchi-Jos Road by truck drivers on Friday.
The protest erupted after a truck driver’s tyre was damaged by a blocking device used by federal haulage revenue officials during a levy dispute.
When other drivers barricaded the road in solidarity, CSP Holman Simon, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, intervened through dialogue and paid the ₦310,000 from his own funds to enable the driver to replace the tyre.
The gesture led to the peaceful dispersal of the drivers and full restoration of traffic. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the breach of public peace.
