The suspended Organising Secretary of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Abia State Chapter, Dr. Charles Ukeagu, has appealed for peace and reconciliation amid the leadership dispute rocking the organisation.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Ukeagu made the appeal following a peaceful protest by some youths and supporters in Umuahia over his six-month suspension.
Ukeagu said the disagreement should not weaken the Movement’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. He maintained that he remained open to dialogue with the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, and other leaders.
“I am 100 percent willing for reconciliation. Abia State belongs to all of us. Nobody can intimidate one another. Let us give peace a chance,” Ukeagu said.
CDA News gathered from his remarks that Ukeagu’s concerns included internal communication, appointments, transparency and the handling of members. He argued that the Movement should focus on expanding its membership and supporting its political objectives.
The protest leader, Comrade Emeka Kenneth Uche, also appealed for an amicable resolution, saying the protesters were seeking dialogue rather than confrontation.
However, the Movement’s Deputy State Director, Hon. Prince Chukwuemeka Osoagbaka, defended the suspension on behalf of Mayor Lucky Igbokwe.
Osoagbaka said Ukeagu was suspended after a disciplinary committee investigated allegations of insubordination. He stressed that the action was not an expulsion and that Ukeagu could seek redress through the organisation’s internal channels.
Despite the disagreement, both sides expressed commitment to the Movement’s objectives and called for unity ahead of 2027.
