CONVENTION: PDP BEGINS NOMINATION FORMS SALE, REAFFIRMS ZONING

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced the sale of nomination forms for its upcoming national convention, reaffirming its zoning formula for key leadership positions ahead of the March 29–30 event.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, the PDP announced that forms for various national executive offices are now available for purchase at the national secretariat in Abuja. The party also reiterated that its zoning arrangement, which allocates the national chairmanship position to the North-Central region, remains unchanged.

The party urged all aspirants to adhere to the guidelines and ensure peaceful conduct throughout the process.

“The PDP is committed to a transparent, credible, and inclusive convention. All interested members are encouraged to obtain forms and participate in line with the party’s constitution,” the statement read.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to resolve internal tensions, particularly between factions loyal to the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the camp of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike. Party leaders have called for unity ahead of the convention, stressing the need to present a united front for future elections.

The sale of forms is expected to close days before the convention, with screening of aspirants scheduled to follow immediately. The PDP National Working Committee has assured that all processes will be conducted fairly and in accordance with party rules.
