LAGOS — Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has dismissed the All Progressives Congress’ chances of winning Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, declaring that even the party’s gathering of top leaders would not change the outcome .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the singer made the remark while reacting to a post by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who welcomed APC leaders including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and governors Hope Uzodimma, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Uba Sani to Osogbo for the party’s mega rally .
CDA News Nigeria reports that Davido, sharing Oyetola’s post on his official X handle, wrote: “If you like gather Jesus 12 disciples o ma LULE for the 3rd time” . The comment is a direct reference to his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, and his previous victories over the APC in 2018 and 2022 .
The singer’s remark comes just days before the August 15 governorship poll, where Adeleke faces APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other contenders . Davido has been actively campaigning for his uncle, appearing at rallies and mobilising support through his social media influence . Meanwhile, the APC leaders at the rally vowed to ensure the party’s victory at the polls .
