Deputy Speaker Kalu: “All Hope Not Lost” for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

ABUJA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed optimism that a political solution will secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The statement comes just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment on Thursday. Kalu urged the people of the South-East and all Nigerians to remain calm, assuring them that “all hope is not lost.”

In a press release, Kalu stated that with the court process concluded, it is now time to intensify efforts for a political resolution. He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would be receptive to the pleas of Igbo leaders on the matter.

“It is now time to explore political solutions that had been hindered because the matter was before the court,” Kalu said. “We are going to get it. Our people should remain calm.”
