Deputy Speaker Kalu Denies Abandoned Projects Claim in Bende

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has firmly dismissed allegations that there are abandoned federal government projects in Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State.

Speaking during a media chat, Kalu described the claims as misleading, stating that all ongoing projects in the area are proceeding according to plan.

He specifically addressed references to the Ohumola Civic Centre in Igbere, which he said had been misrepresented as abandoned. The lawmaker also pointed to a small failed section of the Bende–Ozuitem Road, emphasizing that isolated defects on a 5.8-kilometre road should not be portrayed as project abandonment.

Kalu urged the public to rely on verified information, noting that governance should be assessed based on factual progress and not on “misinformation spread from a tiny portion of a larger project.”
